Fred Montez

Date of Death: 01/10/1997
After graduation, Fred and Sonny Trevino joined the Navy. Serving in the seventh fleet in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Springfield. He returned to Victoria, worked for Citizens Memorial Hospital, where he was one of the first students in technical radiology class under Dr. Bauer.
While working at Citizens, he met Esperanza Delgado, a student nurse, June 5, 1966, they married, moved to Wharton, TX in April 1967. Fred became the Radiology Dept. Mgr.for Caney Valley Memorial Hospital. They became the parents of Fernando in 1971, their only son.
RV trips with family, restoring old cars with his neighbors and son, and fishing were his points of pleasure after retiring from South Texas Medical Clinics in 1994.
Fred spent the next 3 years in poor health, but this never dampened his spirit. He would travel to see family and friends spreading his good will with his contagious smill. Fred left us on January 10, 1997 after complications during surgery at St. Lukes Hospital in Houston. As by his wishes, his ashes were spread in the sea, in which he always found tranqility. Esperanza resides in Webster as well as son, Fernando. Fred will always be missed by all that met and adored him.
