Lester J. Tait, Jr., 53, died Saturday, June 3, 1995.  He was born Jan. 7, 1942, in Victoria to the late Lester J. and Annie Buethe Tait of Telferner.  He was employed by the Victoria County Sheriff's Department.  He was a director of the Wood-Hi Cemetery and retired  the National Guard of Texas after 16 years of service.  He attended several law enforcement academies including the  National Fire Academy and was a certified arson investigaor.  He was a member of Northside  Baptist Church.

Suvivors: wife Frances Smiga Tait; mother; stepdaughter, Tessia-Ann Stastny; sons Nathan and 2nd Lt. Curtis Tait; stepson, Carlton Dollery; sister Charlotte Richter; brother Larry Tait; and four grandchildren, and one step grandchild.

Burial was in Wood-Hi Cemetery.
